Last year we introduced Level Up Lanes to the course. These were sections of your favorite obstacles that we upgraded to give Mudders the chance to up the ante and take on an even greater challenge, while still working as a team. Some of the obstacles that got the Level Up treatment included classics like Everest, which gave Mudders the opportunity to pick from different heights, to more recent creations like Leap of Faith, where the rope net was replaced by a single knotted rope. Not to mention one of our most memorable Frankenstein-like creations; the Cage Crawl Level Up Lane.
We recently launched the Obstacle Design Competition but we got to thinking that if you’re a legionnaire with a fair few headbands under your belt just like on the course, you might be looking for little bit more of a challenge.
The Level Up Lane Design Competition
On the standard Obstacle Design Competition your imagination is free to roam wild. Will it be taller than Mudderhorn? Will it spin Mudders and send them flying into the air? But when you’re designing a Level Up Lane you’re going to need to reign it in a little and think more like the obstacle designers at TMHQ. This challenge takes a little more thought and a little more finesse but we have no concerns that Mudder Nation is up for the task.
Take an obstacle that you love (it could be one that already has a Level Up Lane) and think about how you can take one section of that obstacle and upgrade it for your fellow legionnaires. That could mean taking something away to make it harder, or adding in a new component – just remember that it needs to function alongside the normal obstacle and you need to be able to run thousands of people through it. Are you up for the challenge?
