So you’ve registered for the Tougher Together Live Event, happening June 6th 2020 from 1-4EST. Now what?
We know we’ve been teasing you for weeks now and left you wondering what this is all about. With less than a week until the big day, we thought it was time to give you the lowdown. Tougher Together is a virtual challenge that has you building and completing obstacles at home (both on and off camera).
The challenge will include 2 periods of 45 minutes. Each 45 minute period challenges you to complete 2 obstacles and a run. We’ll track the run through Strava, so please be sure to download the app in advance. But that’s not all. We will also throw in a surprise on-camera obstacle (which we will conduct via Zoom) and, if that wasn’t enough, you can find bonus challenges to fulfill all your sufferfest needs.
While the goal is to complete the challenges and have fun, certain challenges will include prizing. And because the event is only a few short hours, you’ll want to come prepared with your obstacles set up in advance (looking at you lollygaggers and procrastinators).
So here’s the rundown. We’ll start at 1pm EST with a short opening from some of your favorites (Kyle McLaughlin, Coach T. Mud, and Sean Corvelle).
Then we’ll move on to the challenges.
First up is Berlin Walls (Home Edition)
What you need: Two chairs and a mop, broomstick, baseball bat, etc.
Instructions: Set the chairs up facing each other. Balance the broomstick on the chairs at a reasonable height (we’ll let you be the judge of a “reasonable height”). See how many times you can get over the Berlin Walls without knocking it over or getting tired in a 3 minute period.
Second, we’ll move on to Black Widow/Agent 007
What you need: chairs, birthday party streamers/string/rope of some kind
Instructions: You’ll DEFINITELY want to set this one up in advance as setup time is 15-20 minutes (yes, we tried it at home). Using a hallway or setting up a row of chairs, tie/tape string in a crisscross pattern across the open space. The goal is to move through the web without touching any of the strings.
At this point, we’ll complete the first run and regroup on Zoom for a check in and surprise challenge.
Surprise Challenge:
For this one, you will need a boomstick, whiffle ball bat, baseball bat, etc. Don’t worry – we’re not hitting anything with it. More to come later.
Next, we will move onto the second half of the live event challenge. Again, participants will have 45 minutes to complete these challenges during this period.
Next up, we have Hero Carry.
What you need: a friend.
Instructions: Hero Carry is a partner obstacle. Please only participate if you are following safe social distancing guidelines. Use your judgement here. If you do not have a roommate, friend, significant other, or fellow human you feel comfortable with, please skip and move onto the other obstacles.
If you do have somebody you feel comfortable doing this obstacle with, Person A first gives Person B a piggy back ride for 100 yards. Then we switch and Person B gives Person A a piggy back ride for 100 yards. (If you don’t know your units of measurement, it’s okay to guestimate, or you can track on Strava.)
Finally, the last obstacle is everybody’s favorite: Arctic Enema
What you need: ice.
Optional: buckets, bathtub, water guns, or any other kind of container
Instructions: Get chilly with our at-home hot take of Arctic Enema. Recreate it in the bathtub, use a dunk tank, grab a water gun, or dump a big ol’ bucket of ice on your head. Good things the weather is finally warming up, otherwise this one might not feel so good.
To recap Mudders, please come prepared having downloaded Zoom and Strava in advance. We encourage you to prep our obstacles ahead of time and we can’t wait to see you on the visual course.
And one more thing…
Keep track of your obstacles with an obstacle tracker or get competitive and track your points too. Take a screen shot, track your progress, and share on social media. Don’t forget to tag Tough Mudder and use #TougherTogether
