If you don’t yet know about the certifiably badass Graycor employee’s who conquered Tough Mudder as a team and raised $12,928 for The Organization for Autism Research, we only have one question: where have you been?
In 2016 we covered the story about the 17 Graycor employees who made such a huge difference by running through mud. The guys and gals from Graycor left the event with a supercharged sense of teamwork and a newfound addiction for mud and Tough Mudder course. So much so that they’re making Tough Mudder an annual fundraising event for the company and its employees.
We checked in with the now 39-strong Graycor team to find out how they more than tripled their fundraising total in 2017, and why Tough Mudder has brought them together as a business.
How has Tough Mudder changed your company culture?
Tough Mudder has allowed us to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Through this shared experience, employees from across the country are creating lasting bonds while demonstrating we can accomplish so much more as a team! We invest in employee team-building events and collaborative projects to help build a strong “family” of co-workers at Graycor, and Tough Mudder fits the bill perfectly.
Who did you fundraise for this year?
We are proud to support Team Reeve through this year’s Tough Mudder event, affording us the opportunity to bring awareness to and make a difference in the lives of those living with paralysis. The Reeve Foundation is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis through grants, information and advocacy. There are 5.4 million Americans – nearly 1 in 50 people – living with some form of paralysis. These individuals, and their families and caregivers, are the driving force behind the work of the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation. Learn more about the Reeve Foundation at www.ChristopherReeve.org.
How much did you raise?
We kicked off our fundraising with with luncheons held in all of our offices on May 18, with members of the Reeve Foundation team flying in from New Jersey to join in at Graycor’s Headquarters in Oakbrook Terrace. Through the spirit of teamwork on and off the course, all members of Graycor for Team Reeve completed the race and raised $45,289 for the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, breaking Graycor’s previous fundraising record three times over! Thank you to all of the brave and dedicated Mudders who joined the cause and made this event a success and a special THANK YOU to all of those who donated and helped us raise funds for our cause.
