Raise your hand if you’ve recently taken up running.
Running pairs well with quarantine like fine wine, a Netflix binge, and questioning your sanity. And if you’ve been doing excessive amounts of those three, it might be time to go out for a run, or at least a walk. You don’t have to be a runner, but a long trek on a nature trail is often enough to clear one’s head of daily woes. Some find a runners high to be the antidote to daily drag, while for others simply getting up and moving is the way to go.
Given the circumstances of lockdown, many of us have found ourselves in a socially distanced world that doesn’t allow for gyms, fitness classes, or community events like it used to. All things considered, now might just be the time to get into running. And given the waves of new runners on the road, we’ve decided to join Strava, a workout app for runners and cyclists from the casual miler to the hard-core marathoner. It offers in-depth GPS tracking, works with a variety of GPS devices, and tracks all kinds of metrics (especially if you opt for a Summit membership). It’s also known for its popular segments feature, which shows how you stack up against other runners on the same route.
Tough Mudder joined the platform to keep the community going and maybe issue a few challenges as the weeks progress. Not looking to compete? That’s fine too, simply track your progress and follow along with the community at your own pace.
You can join Strava for free, but make sure to join the North American Tough Mudder club when you do. See you out there (virtually).
